So for Hacky’s preschool we went on a field trip to the new fire station here in Orem. They had a big open house with lots to do. The kids loved it but were very funny to watch. Hacky refused to take a picture with his class standing in front of an ambulance but jumped at the chance to have his pic with a six foot tall dog named “Sparky” I don’t think I’ll ever understand this kid. Zoe was pretty nervous about the huge fire they set and the “smoke house” where they set off a fire alarm, but other than that she did really well. I think the highlight of the whole day was the cotton candy at the end, it was all the kids could talk about. It’s a shame firestations don’t hold events like this more often, I was able to show the kids some really good thing that they will remember, like how the fire men use teamwork to keep eachother safe and how just as we hold hands while crossing the street they hold on to eachother as they fight fires. It was very interesting to see how hot and quick fire really is which allowed a lesson in not playing with it, Zoe might be a little young for that lesson but they say to start early. Anyway it made for a great day full of fun and lots to talk about the rest of the evening.

Mother’s Day was so nice this year. We had a great service at church followed by a quiet evening. Hacky got to write things about his mommy in Primary and that was cute this is what he wrote:
Mommy’s favorite dinner: Mashed potatoes.
Mommy’s favorite dessert: Ice cream
Mommy’s favorite color: Pink
Mommy’s favorite t.v. show: Boring ones
Mommy’s favorite thing to do: Go on dates with my dad, he’s bald.
Mommy’s favorite book: She reads to me.
Mommy’s favorite music: None
If Mommy could buy anything it would be: tires
Mommy’s favorite place to go on vacation: Camping.
what can I say, for the most part the boy knows his mommy, I’m still trying to figure out the whole tires thing.
After church Hacky went with his grandparents and aunts to Mt. P. to visit his great grandparents and some more aunts and uncles and cousins while Zoe stayed home with me and Matt. That evening we went for a drive and ended up at the cemetery to visit Matt’s brother’s grave. Zoe had so much fun there watching the birds and other people. She was in a very silly mood and was making faces and climbing all over me while Daddy cleaned up the grass around the head stone. It was a very peaceful feeling there and we really enjoyed ourselves.

Last year Hacky and I started a little family tradition of celebrating Chinese New Year. We really don’t have any Chinese influence other than Matt’s dad serving his mission in Taiwan. We don’t do any thing major mostly it’s an excuse to spend way too much money on take-out. Last year we bought a paper dragon and hung it up this year I couldn’t find it so we did with out. We wear red all day and I try to teach him traditions like the whole money thing and we make a craft. Hacky really seems to enjoy the day. So this year I’m going to try and learn about other holidays and make each one a little special. I think I can do Cinco de Mayo but I’m not sure what else to do. Any suggestions would be nice. I just want to my kids to know and appreciate other cultures. Maybe it’s silly or a little dorky but I think it will be fun when they grow up and ask me what I was thinking. Or maybe they’ll understand that it was important to me especially when they realize how international their family is. (Matt has family from Brazil, S. Africa, and the D.R.)

so we have kind of had a lot of snow the last week or so, its so much that my car has gotten lost. The one thing I love about the snow is how it completly changes the world around us. Then in the spring when it all goes away, we get to see another picture of the world. I also love how much the kids enjoy it. Zoe not near as much as Hacky but she’ll learn to, she is just really nervous on the ice and the feeling of the ground giving way under her.

It’s taken me forever to do this because I HATE stuff like this. There that is one thing about me you probably didn’t know…I hate forwards and chain letters and anything that asks you to tell things about yourself. Maybe it’s dumb of me but it drives me crazy to have to sit and think about what I want to say. Second by now most everyone who knows me knows I am married to a computer genius but what you may not know is that I am a plague to computers. I just approach one and boom it’s down and out. Fortunatly for me I do have Matt to fix my problems and save the computers. Do to this problem that I have I do very little on the computer and if it were not for Matt, I would do nothing at all. Third I have a confession I don’t hate snow. I used to but not so much anymore… shhh don’t tell my family. Ok that’s about all I can manage to put myself through and I only did this much for you KIndra…love ya. If I was to tag someone it would be Deanna and Lacey. Good luck girls.

Thanksgiving was a nice day at our house. We didn’t go anywhere nor did we have any guests, it was perfectly quiet just the way I like it. Susan made the turkey, my dad did the potatoes and I did rolls and pies. After dinner we all napped and then set up our christmas stuff. We have a cute tree that is decorated from about the middle on up. (Due to the fact that I have a 16 month old monster that will distroy anything she gets her hands on.) Now its on to my most favorite time of the year. I am really looking forward to Christmas this year, my kids are at very fun ages.

For the birthdays this year we had a back yard party with some of Hacky’s friends and we went to Thanksgiving Points Dinosaur Museum with Grandma and Hannah.

This is our family about a year ago. The last family pic taken before Rachel left to serve a mission for the LDS church in Greece.

Wow, my own blog. Who ever would have thought I would that I would take such a huge step into the computer age?
